Why why why.
Clearing some space in the brain.
In March 2024, my old life stopped and I started down a different path.
After an MRI to look into increasing hearing loss, the hospital found a brain tumour. This one sat there pulsing away right in the bit of the brain that deals with speech and memory. “A life changing diagnosis”, said the surgeon.
In the months between diagnosis and surgery, I tried to write down what I could after meetings. If I’m being honest now, this was partly down to a fear that surgery focused solely in the speech and memory area may well leave me with an edited or shrunken version of each of those things. Maybe the notes would end up my only memory.
The surgery happened in October 2024. This year sees parts two and three of the recovery process - radiotherapy and chemotherapy. I’ve kept writing whenever possible and will post stories, thoughts, rants and ramblings here. Hope it all makes sense.
